Carolyn Tran
PhD, DNP, APRN, GNP-BC, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Carolyn Tran is a board-certified gerontological and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine, with a focus on consultation liaison psychiatry. She also serves as a clinical team leader and consultant for one of the nation’s premier behavioral health providers dedicated to long-term care. Throughout her career, she has mentored hundreds of nurse practitioners in providing high-quality, safe, and effective psychiatric care to adult patients with severe mental illnesses, particularly while addressing their medical and surgical needs in quaternary hospital settings and the psychiatric mental health needs of the geriatric population in long-term care facilities. Additionally, she is an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center's Cizik School of Nursing, where she contributes as adjunct clinical faculty in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. As an early nursing scientist, her research explores the relationships between trauma exposure, psychological distress, successful aging, and overall well-being within the older adult population.
